Analizan cercar el convento de San Francisco
La medida es estudiada por los frailes del lugar debidos a los reiterados hechos de vandalismo. Juan Butarazzi, religioso del lugar, expresó por LT10 la necesidad de cuidar un monumento histórico latinoamericano.
En diálogo con LT10, Juan Buttarazzi, fraile del convento de San Francisco, aseguró que “hace 40 años el convento estaba cercado con rejas. En una reforma del Parque del Sur y de la plaza se quitaron las rejas. Estamos pensando en qué podemos hacer para proteger el monumento histórico ante el vandalismo que nos golpea”. Así mismo afirmó que no es la primera vez que se ven este tipo de destrozos, y que de hecho la violencia se hace presente en la plaza.
Además, Juan Buttarazzi agregó que “hoy, lamentablemente el Museo Etnográfico es arte del graffiti. Esto no es libertad. No es la primera vez que prenden fuego cerca del convento”.
En cuanto a la historia, el religioso afirmó que el data de 1676. “La obra culminó en 1680, este convento tiene características únicas en Latinoamericana”. Por eso mismo agregó que “en 1945 vinieron desde California con la intención de llevarse el techo porque es único”.
Por último, Juan Buttarazzi remarcó que no se oponen a la libre expresión y afirmó: “nosotros no tenemos problemas con que la gente venga a las galerías si no hacen daño. Lo que no podemos permitir es que vengan a drogarse, lo utilicen de baño o usen las paredes como arco”.
