Chiaraviglio buscará ganar su tercera medalla de oro en Bolivia
El santafesino Germán Chiaraviglio, finalista en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río de Janeiro 2016 en salto con garrocha, buscará ganar su tercera medalla de oro consecutiva cuando compita en el campeonato sudamericano de atletismo indoor (bajo techo) de Cochambamba, Bolivia, que brindará puntos para la clasificación de los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio de julio próximo.
Chiaraviglio conquistó, el jueves pasado, su segunda medalla de oro del año al ganar el Grand Prix Internacional de Cochambamba (indoor), con una marca de 5,40 metros, mientras que la presea de plata fue obtenida por el juvenil entrerriano Pablo Zaffaroni, campeón sudamericano en su categoría, con 5,10.
El santafesino, de 32 años y que está en el 27mo puesto en el ranking mundial (los mejores 32 irán a los Juegos Olímpicos), ganó la medalla de oro el pasado domingo 19 de enero, en su primera prueba del año, en el torneo nacional indoor de Cochabamba, con 5,50 metros.
El sistema de clasificación a los Juegos Olímpicos es por marca mínima (5,80) y por ranking de puntos, que pondera tres factores para otorgar el puntaje ideal: marca técnica lograda, posición obtenida y categoría de la competencia.
Los cinco mejores resultados de los últimos doce meses se promediarán para sacar el ranking mundial de la disciplina.
El atleta santafesino, undécimo en los Juegos Olímpicos 2016 y noveno en el Mundial 2015, tiene como mejor marca de su carrera 5,75 metros con la que ganó la medalla de plata en los Juegos Panamericanos de Toronto, Canadá, 2015, y necesita 5,80 metros para clasificarse a los Juegos de Tokio.
Chiaraviglio, campeón sudamericano al aire libre en Tunja (Colombia) 2006 con 5,40; Lima (Perú) 2015 con 5,70 y Asunción (Paraguay) 2017 con 5,60, tiene como mejor marca bajo techo 6,60 metros, marca que logró dos veces: en Donetsk, Ucrania, el 10 de febrero de 2007, y en Glasgow, Escocia, el 20 de febrero de 2016.
El brasileño Thiago Braz da Silva, campeón olímpico em Río de Janeiro 2016, lidera el ranking sudamericano de salto con garrocha bajo techo con una marca de 5,93, lograda en Berlín, Alemania, el 13 de febrero de 2016.
