¿Cómo nació el personaje de Phoebe de “Friends”?
Emitida durante diez años, Friends es, sin lugar a dudas, la sitcom más importante en la historia de la televisión.
La trama del programa es conocida por todos: la vida de un grupo de seis amigos (Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing y Ross Geller) que viven en Manhattan, Nueva York, y van atravesando diferentes momentos, buenos y malos, pero siempre con una crítica cómica a los hechos más trascendentales de la actualidad.
El personaje de Phoebe, interpretado por Lisa Kudrow, resultaba ser uno de los más atractivos de la serie. Distraída, rara, inocente y muy buena amiga, la masajista y amante de la música cargaba con un pasado duro y conflictivo, y el surrealismo y el misterio marcaban su vida muy a menudo. Cabe recordar que la mujer llegó a convertirse en “madre de alquiler” para su medio hermano, dando a luz a trillizos, por ejemplo.
¿Pero cómo nació este atractivo y curioso personaje? En el libro Series que están cambiando nuestra vida, David Crane y Marta Kauffman (creadores de Friends) explican que, antes de encarnar a Phoebe, Kudrow interpretaba a una camarera en la serie Mad About You, de nombre Ursula Buffay, y que como a ellos les gustaba mucho su perfil, decidieron crear a Phoebe, su hermana, en la nueva serie de NBC.
De hecho, Crane y Kauffman establecieron una relación entre ambas comedias, ya que en varios momentos de Friends aparecía Buffay, como la tirana hermana gemela de Phoebe.
