El Chapa Retegui se colgó la medalla de oro
El Chapa Retegui completó su vitrina. Consiguió el único logro deportivo como entrenador que le faltaba. Se colgó la medalla de oro en el pecho y se sacó una importante espina del talón.
Porque era lo que le faltaba para coronar una exitosísima carrera al frente de los seleccionados argentinos. Y lo consiguió comandando a Los Leones, algo que hasta hace muy poco aparecía como una simple utopía.
El Chapa rompió todos los pronósticos. Hizo una gran campaña al frente de Las Leonas, pero las chicas estaban acostumbradas a codearse con el éxito. Y hoy llevó a los hombres a lo más alto del podio olímpico, una hazaña que estaba muy lejos entrar en el terreno de los pronósticos factibles.
Se pudo al frente de Los Leones en 2013, tras la salida de Marcelo Garrafo. Y en solo un puñado de meses comenzó a cosechar su siembra. Porque en junio del año siguiente el hockey masculino ganó una histórica medalla de bronce en el Mundial de La Haya. Esa fue la primera señal de que se podía soñar en grande.
En 2015 Los Leones ratificaron sus credenciales con la obtención de la medalla de oro en los Juegos Panamericanos de 2015 en Toronto. De esos dos logros deportivos hasta el oro olímpico existe un umbral muy alto. Tan grande como inimaginable. Pero no imposible. Eso demostró el seleccionado albiceleste con un nivel superlativo y una entrega descomunal. Esa fue la ecuación que utilizaron para una consagración para la cual no existe un adjetivo que la describa completamente.
Era el logro que le falta al Chapa Retegui. Esto se debe a que con Las Leonas había ganado varios Champions Trohpy, salido campeón del mundo y obtenido las medallas de plata y de bronce olímpicas.
