El Festival de Cannes premiará a los mejores videos de TikTok
El Festival de Cannes, uno de los eventos más importantes en la industria cinematográfica, sorprendió al anunciar que, para la edición de este año, forjó una innovadora e inesperada sociedad con una de las redes sociales del momento: TikTok.
Según precisaron desde la organización, el principal objetivo del acuerdo es ampliar la audiencia y, en paralelo, atraer a un público más juvenil.
La plataforma china de videos, que cuenta con más de mil millones de usuarios en todo el mundo, apoyará financieramente esta entrega de premios, que se llevará a cabo en el sur francés entre el próximo 17 y 28 de mayo.
A cambio, no solo será la protagonista de una nueva categoría, “TikTok Short Film”, sino que también tendrá los derechos para transmitir las entrevistas a las estrellas y todo lo que suceda en la alfombra roja, una de las más esperadas cada año.
Se trata de un permiso inédito, dado que las autoridades del evento que se desarrolla en la ciudad de Cannes, Francia, les tenían prohibido a los invitados que se sacaran fotos y brindaran declaraciones en la red carpet. De esa manera, millones de personas podrán ver desde dentro por primera vez la llegada de las principales estrellas internacionales, todo a través de TikTok.
“Con mucho honor damos la bienvenida al Festival como socios oficiales. Los admiradores del entretenimiento de todo el mundo usan TikTok para estar entretenidos, expresarse y descubrir cosas nuevas, pero lo hacen con un sentido de comunidad auténtico como en ningún otro lado”, celebró el director general de la red social, Rich Waterworth.
A su vez, el director artístico del festival, Thierry Fremaux, se mostró “ansioso por compartir la magia del evento con una audiencia mucho más amplia y global y más cinéfila que nunca antes”. Y agregó: “Estamos deseando compartir los momentos más emocionantes e inspiradores del Festival y ver cómo se reimagina a través de la perspectiva de los creadores de TikTok y su comunidad”.
La sociedad creada entre el Festival de Cine de Cannes y TikTok lanzó una nueva categoría: TikTok Short Film. Se trata de una competencia mundial que comenzará en la red social y que tendrá como únicos requisitos que los videos estén filmados en formato vertical y que tengan una extensión de entre 30 segundos y tres minutos.
Es, sin lugar a dudas, el premio que se disputará entre la mayor cantidad de producciones. En total, participarán los 200 cortometrajes más vistos. Además, los propios representantes de la red social en todo el mundo tendrán influencia directa en la selección, puesto que serán los encargados de elegir a los finalistas. Por último, el jurado oficial de Cannes le entregará un galardón especial a tres ganadores.
