Pablo Cococcioni, responsable del Asuntos Penitenciarios, se refirió a la problemática que genera el alojamiento de presos en comisarías. “Revertir esto es un proceso largo que implica apuestas a largo plazo porque es una fuerte inversión en obra pública, generar el personal especializado, los recursos materiales”. En comunicación con “Sol de frente” (Sol 91.5, de lunes a viernes de 16.30 a 19), el funcionario indicó que “los números” dan cuenta de un panorama “alentador”.
En ese marco, Cococcioni recordó que “se empezó la gestión con dos servicios penitenciarios paralelos porque más de la mitad de los presos estaban en Policía. El Servicio Penitenciario era absolutamente deficitario estructuralmente en cuanto a la cantidad de plazas ofrecidas. Hoy por hoy, llegamos al 80 % de los presos en el Servicio Penitenciario. Y eso que ha habido un grado de aumento”, aclaró.
Según afirmó, las proyecciones oficiales apuntan que “el año que viene, a esta altura, si es que descontamos los más de 300 federales que hay en la provincia de Santa Fe, nos estaríamos quedando sin presos en comisarías”.
