Los millennials tienen menos sexo que las generaciones anteriores
Son más escépticos a las relaciones, no tienen tabúes pero, sin embargo, los milennials son menos activos sexualmente que sus padres. Un estudio de el Archives of Sexual Behavior probó que cada vez más jóvenes adultos nacidos en los 80 y los 90 eligen no tener sexo.Estudiando 26.707 casos de personas de entre 20 y 24 años, el profesor de Psicología de la San Diego State University Jean Twenge relevó que el 15% no ha tenido una pareja sexual desde los 18 años. Por otro lado, en la Generación X (nacida en los 60 y 70), el número baja a 6%.
Como no se trata de ciencia exacta, es difícil generalizar y explicar una sola razón para este fenómeno. Pero Twenge teoriza en el estudio: “Hay un patrón general que sigue esta generación de alcanzar ciertos hitos más tarde. Casarse, tener hijos, estabilizarse en una carrera, comprar una casa. Ahora parece que los millennials y la generación posterior, la “i”, también están postergando el sexo”.
Otra teoría que tiene Twenge es que los jóvenes se ven cada vez menos, al comunicarse casi exclusivamente a través de sus teléfonos. Menos contacto físico se traduce rápidamente a menos encuentros sexuales. Además, se juzgan a través de aplicaciones que eliminan la chispa y dejan todo el poder en la imagen. Remata Twenge: “Quizás si alguien no encuentra al otro del todo atractivo, puede caer rendido ante su simpatía. En Tinder, es solo una foto”.
