Quién facilitaría la llegada de Hillary a la Casa Blanca
El ex secretario de Interior estadounidense Ken Salazar liderará el equipo de transición de Hillary Clinton para la Casa Blanca si la candidata presidencial demócrata gana las elecciones en noviembre.
En un claro acercamiento a la comunidad hispana, un actor cada vez más importante para las elecciones en el país, y ante la dura campaña que lleva adelante el candidato republicano Donald Trump contra los inmigrantes, la demócrata quiere sumar el apoyo latinoamericano.
Salazar, de origen hispano, dirigirá desde Washington el equipo encargado de la preparación de una potencial administración Clinton, mientras que el centro de operaciones de la campaña electoral de la ex primera dama seguirá estando en Brooklyn, Nueva York.
Además de Salazar, formarán parte de este equipo Tom Donilon, ex asesor de Seguridad Nacional; la ex gobernadora de Michigan Jennifer Granholm; la presidenta del Center for American Progress, Neera Tanden; y Maggie Williams, directora del Instituto de Políticas de la Universidad de Harvard.
John Podesta, jefe de la campaña de Hillary Clinton, explicó que mientras él se concentrará en lograr “ganar en noviembre”, Salazar lo hará en crear “un equipo que esté preparado para gobernar después de las elecciones generales”.
Según Podesta, Clinton quiere construir “una economía que funcione para todos, no solo para aquellos que están arriba”.
Salazar explicó que una vez que la ex secretaria de Estado “haga historia al ser elegida como la primera mujer presidenta” de Estados Unidos, quieren tener en marcha una operación de modo que pueda comenzar a trabajar “de inmediato”. “Una administración Clinton-Tim Kaine aprovechará los progresos logrados bajo el presidente Obama y abordará una nueva serie de desafíos en casa y en el exterior”, dijo de acuerdo a la agencia DPA.
“Este equipo de transición llevará a cabo las preparaciones necesarias para asegurarse que nuestra próxima presidenta tiene los recursos y el personal para llevar a cabo esta importante labor”, añadió el político hispano.
Por ley, ambos candidatos tienen acceso a oficinas en Washington y recursos para organizar sus potenciales gobiernos y lograr que la transición entre la administración saliente y entrante sea lo más suave posible. Además, Clinton y Trump ya pueden acceder a informes de inteligencia en el marco de la transición política.
El gobernador de Nueva Jersey, Chris Christie, dirigirá el equipo de transición del candidato republicano Donald Trump si el multimillonario gana las elecciones del 8 de noviembre. El sucesor de Barack Obama asumirá su puesto el 20 de enero de 2017.

Kenneth Lee Salazar nació el 2 de marzo de 1955 en la ciudad de Alamosa y creció cerca del pueblo de Manassa, Colorado, en la comunidad de La Jara, en la zona del Valle de San Luis. Sus padres, Emma y Henry, son estadounidenses de ascendencia española.
Antes de ser uno de los hombres clave de Clinton, fue fiscal general del Estado, senador junior y senador superior. Fue uno de los primeros senadores hispanos EE.UU. desde 1977. En 2008, Obama lo candidateó para el puesto de secretario del Interior.
Tras las presidenciales de noviembre, Salazar podría convertirse en el encargado de delinear junto a Hillary el nuevo gobierno de Estados Unidos.
