Tailandia: alimentan a los tigres con paletas heladas de pollo por las altas temperaturas
Los tigres fueron alimentados con paletas heladas de pollo y se les animó a chapotear en una piscina infantil en un zoológico tailandés el jueves a medida que aumentaban las temperaturas.
Alrededor de 50 de los grandes felinos viven en el zoológico Tiger Kingdom en Chiang Mai, a 700 km (435 millas) al norte de Bangkok, según Patchara Chanted, coordinadora de los manipuladores de tigres allí.
“Los tigres ahorrarán energía durante la mayor parte del día si se recuestan o tratan de esforzarse lo menos posible”, dijo Patchara. “Pero si hace demasiado calor para ellos, comenzarán a jadear como gatos o perros para evitar un golpe de calor”.
“Ofrecemos algunas actividades en el agua o un juguete para ayudarlos a enfriarse”.
Dos tigres chapotearon en una piscina, saltando para aplastar un montón de hojas sostenidas sobre el agua por un manipulador. Dos veces al día durante los meses de verano, los tigres son alimentados con pollo encerrado en bloques de hielo.
La temporada de calor de Tailandia comenzó a fines de febrero y se espera que las temperaturas aumenten hasta los 35 grados Celsius (95 Fahrenheit).
