Trump se negó a responder en la justicia por un supuesto fraude de negocios
El expresidente estadounidense Donald Trump no respondió preguntas durante un interrogatorio al que fue citado por la fiscal general de Nueva York, en el marco de una investigación civil sobre supuesto fraude en sus negocios.
“Me negué a responder las preguntas en virtud de los derechos y prerrogativas otorgados a todos los ciudadanos por la Constitución de Estados Unidos”, dijo Trump en un comunicado, en el que indicó que invocó su derecho de la quinta enmienda contra la autoincriminación, informó el diario The New York Times.
“Cuando tu familia, tu empresa y todas las personas en tu entorno se han convertido en el objetivo de una caza de brujas infundada y políticamente motivada apoyada por abogados, fiscales y medios de comunicación falsos, no se tiene otra opción”, agregó.
Trump presentó numerosas declaraciones a lo largo de los años y luchó durante meses para evitar este testimonio, que podría ser central en la investigación sobre el expresidente y el negocio inmobiliario de su familia.
La declaración del exmandatario, de la que informó más temprano en la red social de su propiedad Truth Social, se produce pocos días después de que agentes del FBI registraran su propiedad de Mar-a-Lago en Florida como parte de una investigación federal -no relacionada con este caso- sobre si tomó archivos clasificados durante su período presidencial.
Trump llegó este miércoles a la oficina de la fiscal general de Nueva York, Letitia James, poco antes de las 9 en una caravana de varios vehículos, tras salir de la Torre Trump, donde saludó a los periodistas reunidos afuera sin hacer declaraciones.

La investigación busca determinar si la compañía de Trump infló el valor de sus bienes para poder obtener préstamos bancarios, además de reducir ese mismo valor con la intención de pagar menos impuestos.
La Organización Trump sostiene desde hace tiempo que la investigación de James, una demócrata, tiene motivaciones políticas, pero todos los intentos de convencer a un juez de ese argumento han fallado.
Trump demandó a James en un tribunal federal para tratar de bloquear la investigación, alegando que la animosidad de ella hacia él era prueba de que la pesquisa violaba sus derechos constitucionales.
